Hanbury Healthcare Ltd are excited to bring forward their proposals for the delivery of new homes on their site at Bamford Road.
The site has been vacant for many years and is now allocated for redevelopment within the adopted Barking and Dagenham Local Plan. The development would provide much needed new housing in the Borough, delivering 75 high-quality homes across two blocks high quality landscaping, planting and residential amenity space.
Location
The site sits between Gurdwara Way, Bamford Road and Glenny Road, on the edge of Barking Town Centre.

Proposals
The development will provide a mix of 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed and 4 bed flats with private balconies across two adjoining blocks: an 8 storey building fronting Glenny Road and at 7-storey building along Bamford Road. The building heights have been carefully designed to provide a stepchange between the more developed context of the town centre and the surrounding lower rise residential context and accord with the local character of the area.
Landscaping will be an integral part of the scheme and will be carefully designed to enhance biodiversity across the site, incorporating a variety of new planting and habitat-rich green spaces.
To encourage the use of sustainable transport methods and given the site’s close proximity to public transport in Barking Town Centre, the development would be car free, except for blue badge parking within the site. Cycle parking would be provided on the ground floor of the building.
The proposals are being designed by Formation Architects, an established, award-winning architectural practice based in London.
